The Alice Mayo Society cordially invites you to join us for an art inspired brunch, featuring artists Valerie DeCora Guimaraes, Natalie Latham and a special display of artwork by Alexandra Beaumont in the Grand Atrium.

AMS Donations Collection for Channel One Regional Food Bank
Leading up to the Spring Brunch on April 28, AMS will be collecting donations for Channel One Regional Food Bank.
Channel One is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Rochester, Minnesota, with a mission to strengthen food access and build healthy communities and a vision that every community in their region is food secure.

AMS Spring Brunch Featured Guests

Valerie DeCora Guimaraes, DNP, MA, RN, Patient Experience Ambassador, Mayo Clinic; Adjunct Professor at UMR Nursing Program. Valerie received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree through Augsburg University, Minneapolis, MN, master’s degree through Lesly University, Cambridge, MA and her BSN at Winona State University, Rochester, MN. Valerie is on faculty at Boston Medical Center through the Safest Choice Program and at UMR Nursing Program. Valerie is the founder of the Greater Rochester Area Dakota Supporters 501 c 3, non-profit. Serves on the American Indian Parent Committee, Ho-Chunk Nation Health Board, Center for American Indian and Minority Health Board, and the Proof Alliance Advisory Board. Valerie started Indian Education Programming within the Rochester Public Schools at the grass roots level. Valerie has actively participated in community by serving on the Heritage Preservation Committee, Rochester Park Board, and has collaborated with many community organizations including the Art Center, History Center of Olmsted County, Rochester International Committee, and Olmsted County. Valerie and her husband, Dr. Paulo Guimaraes have raised 4 feisty children and have 1 granddaughter.

Nathalie Latham is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is fuelled by a deep
commitment to storytelling, creative expression, and environmental advocacy. A
polyglot and accomplished photographer, she gained international recognition
with her critically acclaimed solo exhibition Love It & Leave It: Australia's Creative
Diaspora at the Australian National Portrait Gallery in 2007. Her work has been
featured in prominent international publications, including Le Monde 2 (France),
Domus (Italy), Frankfurter Rundschau (Germany), and the Australian Financial
Review.

Alexandra Beaumont is a textile artist and dancer working in fabric and movement to explore personal and collective joy, celebration, and expansion. Her handmade banners reference the visual, kinetic, and metaphoric elements of parades, through collaged cloth portraits of celebrants in movement. Her recent solo exhibitions include “Boots on the Ground” presented in 2026 at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN; “Chorus” at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport in 2025; and “Techniques for Ecstasy” presented in 2025 at St. Olaf in Northfield, MN. She is a 2024 Minnesota State Arts Board Creative Individuals Grantee, a 2023 Forecast Early Career Project grantee, and a 2022 recipient of the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council “Next Step Fund” grant.
