Membership
How do I become a member?
Partners of consultants, voting administrative staff, senior associate consultants, associate consultants, and Mayo Clinic Scholars in Rochester, Minnesota are automatically considered active members of The Alice Mayo Society. Honorary members are spouses of emeritus staff.
How much does it cost to become a member?
Membership is free, but voluntary annual dues of $35 are accepted to help fund activities and operating expenses. More information on dues is available here. The Society is an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff or overhead. All funds are utilized for programs and communications.
I'm the husband of a physician, is this group for me?
Yes, our organization encourages all spouses and partners of physicians to join and benefit from our community. We host events for the entire family, such as our annual family ice cream social and family ice skating.
Activities
What is the difference between activities and events?
Activities are recurring monthly, quarterly, or one-off workshops or clubs held throughout the year, while events are held annually.
Do some activities cost money?
Most events and activities are free unless specified otherwise. Occasionally, we offer individually paid activities or workshops. For instance, Lunch Bunch is a self-funded activity where participants cover their own meal costs while socializing at various restaurants.
Community Engagement
How do you serve the community?
We support the community through donations to local charities such as the Jeremiah Program, Bear Creek Services, Lutheran Youth Services, and the Women’s Shelter and Support Center. We also host 4-5 social events per year and organize workshops and activities catering to diverse member interests.
Communication and Updates
Do members automatically receive postal mailings?
Yes, all members receive postal mailings, including event invitations and an annual dues request.
How can I opt out of postal mailings?
To remove yourself from our postal mailing lists, send an opt-out request to alicemayosociety@mayo.edu.
How do I update my address with The Alice Mayo Society?
The Alice Mayo Society does not process address changes directly. A Mayo Clinic employee must request a change through Mayo Clinic Human Resources (log in to the Mayo network) or by calling 507-266-0440.
