HOW WE STARTED
In 1911, the Magazine Club began meeting as a way for Mayo Clinic doctors' spouses to socialize and support each other. In 1968, the name changed to The Alice Mayo Society (AMS) in honor of the wife of Dr. Charles W. Mayo, son of Dr. Charles H. Mayo, who was known for her hospitality and welcoming spirit.
OUR WORK
The Alice Mayo Society offers a variety of events and activity groups for our members. We also sponsor the Mayo Families' Connection, creating opportunities for socializing and camaraderie among spouses and significant others of residents, fellows, and medical and graduate students.
In addition to supporting our members, we are committed to giving back to the local community. The Alice Mayo Society organizes donation drives and service opportunities, enabling our members to directly support local organizations.
