Events
The Alice Mayo Society provides social interaction through a variety of events, including our annual Spring Brunch, Garden Tea and Medical Update Luncheon. Only Alice Mayo Society members are eligible to attend these events and children cannot be accommodated. However, we welcome children to our Family Ice Cream Social, and members can enjoy a night out with their spouses at the Mayo Clinic Staff Social. You can see some of our past event invitations here.
Coordinators and chairs of special events or committees must be active members of The Alice Mayo Society. Alice Mayo Society events are sponsored by member annual dues as well as funding from Mayo Clinic Human Resources. To receive emails about events, sign up for our email list. |

On January 14th, attendees at the Mayo Clinic Staff Social were whisked away to Argentina. April Dahl and Dr. Patrick R. Yassini treated us to a tango performance, among other stunning dances. Throughout the evening, we enjoyed music by The Brian Kinney Band and Rogue Tango. "Tango in the Air" was a gala event to remember.
Medical Update
Our Medical Update was held on December 6, 2022. Peter Loftus, a reporter with the Wall Street Journal, was our guest speaker. He spoke to us about the research he conducted for his recently published book "The Messenger: Moderna, the Vaccine, and the Business Gamble That Changed the World."
The 2022 Mayo Clinic Staff Social
On September 24th, the Mayo Civic Center Ballroom was transformed to take us away to A Night in Monte Carlo. Originally scheduled for January and postponed due to the pandemic, this gala event was worth the wait.
Garden Tea
The Garden Tea was held at the Rochester Art Center on September 14th. It was a lovely venue at which to welcome our newest members. Members generously donated pantry items for The Landing MN, a non-profit organization in Rochester helping those experiencing homelessness.
Ice Cream Social
The AMS Ice Cream Social brought many families together at Essex Park on August 27th. We enjoyed lots of activities and delicious ice cream from Flapdoodles. Once again, we collected donations for the Ronald McDonald House and are so thankful for everyone's generosity.
Spring Brunch
Our Spring Brunch was held at the Mayowood Stone Barn on May 10, 2022. AMS members enjoyed a beautiful day with delicious food, wonderful music and delightful conversation. The event also included a donation drive of toys and art supplies for the Ronald McDonald House.
Spring Webinar

Our Spring Webinar featured guest speaker Dr. David Ellis, FASM. Dr. Ellis presented “NASA’s Journey Back to the Moon and Beyond.” He shared with us the steps planned to achieve NASA's goals for returning to the Moon by 2025, the technological hurdles, and the issues, including medical challenges, that face humans on long space flights. If you were not able to join us for this virtual event, you can watch it here.
Medical Update Webinar

We hosted our annual Medical Update as a virtual event on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Our guest speaker was Dr. Stephen Kopecky, a Mayo Clinic cardiologist and cancer survivor, as well as author of the book “Live Younger Longer.” He explained strategies to help prevent heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, diabetes and more. AMS board officers for 2022 were also presented for a vote at the end of the meeting. If you missed the event, you can watch it here.
